Arequipa city tour (½D-PM.)
DESCRIPTION:
In this tour our staff pick you up from your hotel and take you to the downtown of Arequipa, first, we will visit the most attractive viewpoints of the city, called “Carmen Alto” from this place we will appreciate the three volcanoes that surround the city of Arequipa, pre-Inca terraces and the traditional agriculture of “The White City”.
Then we moved to the district of Yanahuara to appreciate portals viewpoint, continuing our City Tour in Arequipa, we headed Incalpaca TXP; a prestigious company that produces clothes using alpaca and vicuna fur, after Sachaca Square, where you will see the whole City of Arequipa and the three volcanoes, Arequipa beautiful countryside, Goyeneche palace, was the residence of Goyeneche Bishop hired the famous architect Luca Poblete to outline the cathedral.
Finally, we will visit the Founder Mansion; a beautiful countryside, is one of the more important and traditional mansion of the region of virreynal construction from the XVIII Century.
(Optional visit) Santa Catalina’s Monastery; It is the most important and impressive monument religious construction of Perú. Characterized by its narrow streets, gardens and squares have Spanish names and remind the old neighbourhood of Granada and Sevilla.

VIEWPOINT OF CARMEN ALTO
Is a traditional place located in Cayma town, it is at the side Chili River, 4kms away from the Arequipa Main Square. It has beautiful well-conserved terraces narrowed by stones; these terraces are used for cultivation by the locals and there were built since Pre-Inca times by the “Yarabayas” also; there are the ancient pathways that are still in use nowadays.
From Carmen Alto you can see beautiful landscape of the three volcanoes lake: Chachani, Misti and Pichupichu.
YANAHUARA
Traditional and elegant neighborhood, located 2km. from Arequipa downtown, Yanahuara characterized by its narrow streets and typical houses which keep their ancient architectural treasures, they were built with “Sillar” (a volcanic white stone).
YANAHUARA VIEWPOINT
Was built on XIX century, with multiple arcs carved with poems fragments (the poems were written by illustrious poets from the City of Arequipa) from this viewpoint we can appreciate a spectacular view of the city and Misti volcano.
INCALPACA TXP
Is a prestigious company that produces clothes using alpaca and vicuna fur, this company is member of the international vicuna consortium, organization that has all the vicuna producers in the world.
SACHACA SQUARE
Is located over a rock hard hill, 5 kms southwest from Arequipa downtown, their houses look like there are creeping the hill. Sachaca church was built on 1807 and it has a beautiful white bell house. and the viewpoint was built on 1990, from where you and see the whole City of Arequipa, the three volcanoes, Arequipa beautiful countryside, Goyeneche palace, Tiabaya town, Hunter district and Gloria Milk factory.
This the perfect place to notice the development of the kind of buildings and materials used for their construction, first the buildings made with adobe (mud and stone mix), then, with sillar (white volcanic stone) actually, reinforced concrete.
GOYENECHE PALACE
This palace was built by the Goyeneche family, to be used as a country house, on the XVII century, it was the residence of Goyeneche Bishop hired the famous architect Luca Poblete to outline the cathedral and later to build his mansion and this was the most beautiful house around Arequipa City.
FOUNDER MANSION
Is located 9 km from Arequipa downtown (20 min by car), placed in a beautiful countryside, where the river Socabaya, Paucarpata and postrero water an important land.
One of the more important and traditional mansion of the region of virreynal construction from the XVIII Century, according to the history, the founder of Arequipa Garci Manuel de Carbajal, ordered to build it for his son.
SANTA CATALINA’S MONASTERY
It is the most important and impressive monument religious construction of Perú. Founded on September 1579, for Santa Catalina de Siena vocation, it was close until 1970. It characterized by its narrow streets, gardens and squares have Spanish names and remind the old neighbourhood of Granada and Sevilla, there are museums with important artists pieces like porcelain, religious ornaments , sculptures, pictures of different colleges.
