Tour to Sun Island in Bolivia (1D)
DESCRIPTION:
At 8:15 a.m. in the morning, our local guide will pick our clients up from their hotels in Copacabana, and take you to the port of the town or Lake Titicaca.
At 8:30 a.m. The boat leaves to the Sun Island (2 hours’ trip by motor boat approx.), arriving to Challapampa community, where local Community Tourism Association will welcome us, where, we will enjoy the tranquility of the sandy white beach and polychrome pebbles.
Our local guide will give you to know about their system of organization of the community then, we will hike of 1 hour to reach the archaeological sites of the “Chinkana” known as the Labyrinth, “Sacred Rock” a sacred place where myths and legends that there was born the Star Sun and the cradle of the Inca empire with Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo founders of the Inca Empire in Cusco.
Then enjoy a traditional Afternoon meal (Apthapi), prepared primarily with local products, after lunch we will share daily activities with the locals. After return to Copacabana, 04:00 p.m. HB arrival to Copacabana Town.

THE SUN ISLAND:
Sun Island it has 9.6 km long by 4.8 km. wide, is considered as a sacred place, locals say that from this place where came out the God Viracocha and created mankind, after the great flood.
The island is divided into three communities: “Yumani” in the south, “Challa”, which has a sandy white beach on the coast of the eastern Central and “Challapampa” near the northern extreme of the island, the latter is the gateway to the Andean origins.
The southern part is more visited and where are the most important archaeological sites such as; the Temple Pilkokaina and the stone steps of the Inca which leading to the source of Life. In this part there are various accommodations, restaurants cafes and pizzerias. In the northern part can be accessed by boat from Yumani to Challapampa, or walking 3 hours by a pre-Columbian trail that crosses the island.
There are the archaeological sites of “La Chinkana” (the maze of stone walls), The Temple of the Sun, the Sacred Rock and the Table of Ceremonies. There is also an interpretation circuit and an archaeological museum.
